Charles Taylor "Master Mechanic" Award

Presentation to

Peter V. Borneman.

Please join us at LIPAMA this Wednesday, February the 24th, and help us recognize one of our own.

This Month's LIPAMA meeting will be a dedicated celebration for this prestigious award.

The "Master Mechanic" Award will be presented to Mr. Borneman by members of the FAA Safety Team.

The Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award is named in honor of Mr. Charles Taylor, the first aviation mechanic in powered flight. The Charles Taylor “Master Mechanic” Award recognizes the lifetime accomplishments of senior mechanics. Mr. Taylor served as the Wright brothers' mechanic and is credited with designing and building the engine for their first successful aircraft.

The "Master Mechanic" Award is one of the highest honors  bestowed upon a Certificated A&P.  It requires that they have faithfully worked a minimum of 50 years in an aviation maintenance career.  30 of those years must have been as an actively engaged A&P working on N-Registered aircraft.

Click on the link or the image below for a short YouTube video.  If you forward to 4 minutes and 5 seconds it addresses the first aircraft engine and an actual interview with Charlie Taylor.  ENJOY!
